Early French Immersion
● French Immersion is a program designed for non-francophone children.
Parents/guardians interested in registering a child for the French Immersion
Kindergarten Program must select their zoned school. If Early French Immersion is not
offered in the zoned school, parents/guardians must select the school closest to their
place of residence that offers Early French Immersion (EFI).
● Early French Immersion Kindergarten registration takes place on a first-come first
served basis for a limited number of seats. Applications will be dated and time-stamped
upon submission of the online application form. All students are entitled to a program in
English so if your child is waitlisted for EFI at a school that is not your zoned school,
space will be held at the zoned school. Parents/guardians will be provided with further
information once class lists for EFI are finalized in September.

If you have any questions regarding the Kinderstart/Kindergarten program and registration
process and details, please contact your zoned school administrator for assistance or email

Frequently Asked Questions
I tested positive on a rapid self-test and negative on a PCR test. What should I do?
During the Omicron surge, if you have a positive rapid self-test result, you are considered a case and you should only book PCR test if you frequent a high-risk setting. Please follow the directions for the School Rapid Testing Program. However, if you received one positive rapid test result followed by a negative PCR test result, please follow the directions based on your situation:
If you have symptoms and you are not a close contact of a case: Stay at home until symptoms have improved for 24 hours and you have no fever.
If you do not have symptoms and you are a close contact: Continue to self-isolate based on your situation. View the Close Contacts Flowchart for instructions.
If you do not have symptoms and you are not a close contact of a case: There is a lower risk that you have COVID-19. You can return to daily activities and do not need to self-isolate, but you must follow public health measures and watch for symptoms of COVID-19 for 10 days. If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, you must self-isolate and book a PCR test.

A paper copy of this updated agreement will be sent home with your child(ren) today and you are asked to return it to school signed by Wednesday, September 29.
